Blog Revamp Underway

Hi everyone. It’s been a long and chaotic year for me since I have last posted, but here I am! Some updates:

I have decided it was best to change the name of this blog from Crinolines & Cavaliers to something more broad and reflective of my current research and costuming practice—Threads of Research. For the past several years, I have become increasingly invested in the material lives of the Scythians, and have also taken on other Iron Age and Early Medieval interests. This name change I feel will encourage me to post more of my ongoing projects and research rabbit holes without worrying about feeling out of place. For now, the old URL will redirect here.

Most recently in my SCA hobby, I was elevated to the Order of the Laurel, with my primary in Research and my secondary in Costuming. One of my goals as a Laurel is to write and publish more information out on the web for those that are in need of resources for developing kit for historical reenactment. I strongly remember a time about 20 years ago when costuming blogs and self-published websites numerously populated the wider web. I found these resources to be invaluable when I was first starting out, and I still find them exceedingly helpful to this day. I hope to help carry that torch (with others) for documenting experiential research through this blog as an amelioration to the current state of the wider web that has deteriorated into a vehicle for monetized results, AI, and flashy video production over a more mindful, measured and contemplative ingestion of information through reading.

At any rate, I am happy to be here again. More soon.
